Math Homework

Some students are bringing home their math books tonight to finish some math work. They are working on solving the following questions using 2 strategies (base ten blocks and stacking) so that they can confirm that their answers are correct.

162 + 154 =

564 + 137 =

334 + 478 =

324 + 777 =

847 + 982 =

We will be going over these questions tomorrow. It is okay if your child makes a mistake while working through the questions as we are learning to correct our mistakes.

We have had a few very busy weeks! Thanks to all the parent volunteers who came to the CPO and Studio Bell with us! We have been extra busy this week putting the finishing touches on our HP trailers. In Math we are working on SolveMe puzzles (link included in LINKS section). These involve a lot of problem solving and mental math. These are AMAZING problems to try at home! Students are learning a lot of strategies to become more efficient when solving these. As a challenge, we are trying to figure out puzzle 139 from the MASTERS section. We are learning about Hearing and Sound in Science. FRANK SLIDE FIELD TRIP REMINDERS

- The bus is leaving no later than 8:15 am, please ensure your child is here before 8:00 am- Students must bring snow pants, a hat, mitts and winter boots. Indoor shoes from school will be brought in backpacks.- Please make sure your child has enough food for the entire day, there is no food available on site.- Students are NOT allowed to bring any electronic devices with them. They may bring a notebook and markers to colour/draw on the bus. The school is NOT responsible for any lost items. - Please remember that we will be arriving back at school at approximately 5:30 pm. Check your child’s class Twitter for updates.- When picking up your child please be at the front door of the school to meet up with your child.

Toonies for Terry

Auburn Bay School will be participating in the Terry Fox Run on Wednesday, September 25th. As we lead up to our run, classes will be working towards increasing their stamina in Phys. Ed while fundraising money for cancer research. Please bring in Toonies for Terry to your classroom teacher as we spread cancer awareness. On the day of the run, it is important that students wear appropriate outside shoes for walking/running along with dressing appropriately for the weather that day. Parents are welcome to join us for this event out on the soccer field at 1:45 PM on Wednesday, September 25th. The Terry Fox Run will last approximately 15 minutes and students will line up with their homeroom teacher to go back inside for the remainder of the afternoon when we have finished. We kindly ask parents to wait outside while this is happening and to pick up your child from their normal dismissal spot.
